Hammer/Blade DPS build for 1.11

About smash / grand slam... 

 

With the gear I currently have equipped: Smash - 480 damage, Grand Slam - 450 + 67 damage.

 

With all buffs:

Twist the knife, lethality, shattering signets, equilibrium, masters house, short fuse, aggression, abuse:

9 + 10 + 6 + 15 + 20 + 20 + 15 + 24 = 119%

Smash: 480 + (480 * 1.19) = 1051.2

Grand Slam: 450 + (450 * 1.19) + 67 = 1052.2

 

With only the passive buffs:

Twist the knife, lethality, shattering signets:

9 + 10 + 6 = 25%

Smash: 480 + (480 * 0.25) = 600

Grand Slam: 450 + (450 * 0.25) + 67 = 629.5

 

Unless i totally messed up the maths, it seems like grand slam is better :S

One thing thats definitely better with Smash is that the Critical Hits are gonna be stronger ^-^

I also didn't take Exposed into account, since thats a multiplicative buff, meaning it affects the proc aswell.

You didn't include Short Fuse (with FF) and the minor signets (9%) :P

​i did include short fuse (without the passive), and the minor signets (shattering) which gives 6% because of having equilibrium on the third minor tali. As far as ive seen, the only time anyone uses the short fuse passive is when you have a bufftank, otherwise its not worth it :P

Also, this is if every single buff procs at the same time, and only then, does smash do more damage, and this is very rare so grand slam is gonna perform better :P

​Yay :3 To me it seems like grand slam is better, so id be very interested in knowing exactly why smash will outperform it ^^

just realised that the shattering signets were already counted into the base damage, so should have done 113% instead of 119%, but the result would be the some so doesnt really matter I guess :D

Didn't forget! Just a lot going on plus my brains melting when i'm finally done with work, the gist of it is in the crit/pen calculations additional multiplicative factors such as breaching signet as well.

The idea is that bigger hits multiply for more, thus resulting in smash multiplying for more damage on average over Grandslam which exists of 2 portions when you surpass a certain number of additives!

I promise i'll get around giving you some actual numbers - but it's very important to calculate the value of Critical and penetrating hits especially crit pens!

Lets take these values as a base:
12.5% crit chance (5% Base + Brutal augment)
77.25% crit power (650cp +brawler)
40% pen chance (Pen rate in NYR)
74% pen multiplier (Pen damage + Epic Breaching signet)

5% will be crit pens (12.5 * 0.4)
So the different forms of damage multipliers over all hits would be:
7.5% crit chance, 35% pen chance, 5% crit-pen chance.

Taking your values:

Smash 480

Grandslam 450 + 67

Adding each factor together:
480x + (0.075 * 0.7725 * 480x) + (0.35 * 0.74 * 480x) + (0.05 * 2.5 * 480x) = 692.13x

67 + (0.075 * 0.7725 * 67) + (0.35 * 0.74 * 67) + (0.05 * 2.5 * 67) = 96.6
450x + (0.075 * 0.7725 * 450x) + (0.35 * 0.74 * 450x) + (0.05 * 2.5 * 450x) = 648.87x + 96.7

x is additive value +1 

Adding 50% additive would be 

Smash
480*2.5 + (0.075 * 0.7725 * 480*2.5) + (0.35 * 0.74 * 480*2.5) + (0.05 * 2.5 * 480*2.5) = 1730.325
Grandslam
67 + (0.075 * 0.7725 * 67) + (0.35 * 0.74 * 67) + (0.05 * 2.5 * 67) = 96.6
450*2.5 + (0.075 * 0.7725 * 450*2.5) + (0.35 * 0.74 * 450*2.5) + (0.05 * 2.5 * 450*2.5) = 1622.18 + 96.7 = 1718.88
